At the dawn of the partnership between Jaeger and LeCoultre, the Duoplan represented a genuine industry revolution. Built on two superimposed planes, the Duoplan calibre was an invitation for both companies to express their creativity with beautiful and inventive designs. It was also a revolution for LeCoultre & Cie, which, thanks to the Duoplan, made the transition from a movement and component producer to a full-fledged watch manufacturer. The 1955 Duoplan Chain exemplifies an era when a timepiece could transcend its function to become an expression of style and refinement. Crafted from 73.92 grams of 18K Pink Gold (750/1000), its sinuous, polished links form a rare bracelet, housing Calibre 403, one of four type of Duoplan movements created for women’s watches. Bearing heated blue hands, a traditional watchmaking practice that changes the colour of the hands through a heating process.
