The Freelancer World-Traveller pays tribute to Mr Raymond Weil, the visionary founder with a passion for Swiss watchmaking and travel. Created to celebrate the centenary of his birth and the 50th anniversary of the Maison he established in Geneva in 1976, this exceptional timepiece is produced in a limited edition of just 260 pieces.   

Conceived as a true traveller’s watch, the 40 mm stainless steel Freelancer World-Traveller combines GMT and Worldtimer functions to offer three simultaneous time displays: local time, a second time zone indicated by the GMT hand, and the 24 time zones of the world. A 24-hour graduated flange provides an immediate day/night indication, while the outer midnight-blue ring displays the names of 24 cities corresponding to 24 time zones.  

At the heart of the dial, a striking world map inspired by the Mercator projection is brought to life through a series of stamping and laser-texturing processes, creating depth through colour, texture and relief. Champagne-coloured continents contrast against the deep midnight-blue oceans, while applied hour markers and polished hands enhanced with Super-LumiNova® ensure optimal readability. Mr Raymond Weil’s handwritten signature replaces the traditional RAYMOND WEIL logo on the dial, creating a particularly intimate connection between this commemorative edition and the man it honours.     

Powered by the RW3230 self-winding mechanical movement with a 56-hour power reserve, the Freelancer World-Traveller features a date window at 6 o’clock and is protected by a sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating. Its rotating bezel features an indexed, notched mechanism that allows the selected city to be precisely positioned against the 24-hour scale for easy reading of the different time zones. The navy-blue leather strap with tone-on-tone topstitching completes the timepiece, while the caseback is engraved with “World-Traveller”, a final reminder of the commemorative significance of this creation.
